Mid-century modern.
Our painters finished the exterior of our home last weekend, and we got all of the details in place these last couple days. Here is our 1958 multi-level home before:
and after:
Our goal was to bring the home back to its mid-century clean-lined roots, while modernizing its look. We replaced the front door, lights, house numbers, and doorbell. We chose the paint color for its blue undertones which complimented our orangish brick better than pure gray. *As a side note, I was so anxious to get this picture up that our home is still under morning shade. I'll try to get a new picture this afternoon and update it.

Changing the view.
One of the things that can make a huge impact on a new home is changing up the look of the exterior. Our home is currently tan brick with cream trim, which happens to be the color palette on 50% of the homes in our neighborhood. I want to make our home look more modern while staying true to its mid-century roots. So last night I ordered these:
The first step will be to paint the trim a nice dark gray (with just a hint of blue). Then I can add silver colored hardware to the flush mount front door we'll put in. Last will come the fun stuff, like these house numbers and doorbell.

(chiasso)Hopefully when all is said and done I will have a front door as gorgeous as this (though modern rather traditional in its styling):
